Why Choose DCP?

Discovery Corner Preschool (DCP) operates as an outreach ministry of First United Methodist Church. It’s is overseen by the DCP Board of Directors.

DCP uses the ABC Jesus Loves Me curriculum:

DCP participates in many fun activities throughout the year. This includes going on field trips and bringing in special guests, such as Johnny Appleseed, Smoky the Bear, the Lancaster Fire Department and visits from FUMC’s lead pastor.

DCP students that are in the 3-year-old and Pre-K classes will have access to FUMC’s library. They will visit it once per week to check out one book.

DCP is a non-profit Christian school. Scholarship assistance is available. If you would like to apply for scholarship funds, please request the necessary paperwork from the Director. The Board of Directors meets to review applications and may grant a reduction in tuition based on need.

It is assumed your child is enrolled for the entire school year. No refunds are given for absences. Should your circumstances change, and you need to withdraw your child, please give DCP no less than two weeks’ notice.

DCP reserves the right to dismiss a child, if we cannot not meet his or her needs as a result of emotional, physical, or behavioral concerns. This is a collaborative process and would never happen without extensive work and partnership to evaluate what might be best for your child.

We encourage volunteers to assist and participate at DCP! Parents, grandparents, family members, and friends are always welcomed, needed and encouraged to help. Please contact your child’s teacher or the Director.

If you have a talent or special activity you or someone you know would like to share with the appropriate class, please let us know in advance, so the staff can plan class time. Please contact the Director.
